Auto-assigned students still see "waiting for group assignment"

Problem description:
Although I have auto-assigned teams, and see them saved, and see them grouped, students see only “waiting for group assignment” when they visit the team and attempt to begin the project.

Expected behavior:
Students should be able to begin work with their partners. See below:

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Admin selects “Auto-Assign Teams” for a project
  2. Change 4 to 2
  3. See paired students at right
  4. Say “Save”
  5. Visit project as one of the students

Actually, it seems to be working now. I guess there was latency.
I put the wrong image in for “actual behavior” - this was it (but now it’s fine):
