Howdy folks, I’m @yerhot. I work at Replit on the support team. I’m working on the future of support at Replit.
I got started on the internet back in the late 90’s when America Online was how almost everyone got on the internet. Fell in love with software, especially open source software during that time. Nowadays I run Arch on my non-work machine and my favorite programming language flips between Ruby and Python. I’m very much a mediocre engineer, though.
Now I just love helping people.
I like animals, video games, music, and awful horror movies when I’m not in-front of a computer.
You can ask me anything involving Support at Replit. Super happy to be here!
On support the work schedule, right now, is pretty much normal day-time hours whenever you live. We’re flexible but there is some structure. The support team is fully remote.
Pay is very much dependent on your experience and what your role is tbh.
I have done some work to build small apps and tools that use Discorse’s API to solve my own problems but not directly to Discorse. I’ve made a bunch of random contributions to open source projects, though
Cool! I recently made something using Discourse webhooks and the Discourse API that grants a badge to users who meet certain criteria. If you’d like to see the source for that, I’d be willing to send you it
I am typing this from my Arch laptop. I also have an Arch desktop. I am pleased with the overall experience (and using Plasma). Currently it is my favorite distro.
Yes! I’m on KDE Plasma too! I had a windows partition around for a while but finally kicked it since pretty much any game I want to play works great with proton now
