Because you never tell it to. Try adding pygame.init() right after the imports.

what’s it meant to show? I see a black screen with

pygame icon, SPACE INVADERS, minimise, close

Are you on a school device? School networks almost always block VNC and web functionality.

consider asking the admin to allow *.repl.co
