I like absolutely none of the changes to the UI. The only things I like about the new UI are those few things that remain from the old one. I have zero positive feedback and 100% negative feedback. Some is personal preference but some is just hard to use.
I have compiled some of the major things from our protest:
The two big things are the side navigation is hidden (and when unhidden looks bad and when refreshed hides again) and that the comments are unusable.
Update 4/7/23: Here is a concise, well-organized explanation of why we hate the UI.
As of this morning I have noticed that the new Replit UI is no longer explorer. Replit didn’t listen and now we must vote to undo this.
This previous topic got 16 votes opposing the UI while it was explorer. We have already complained about it there so I won’t go into details again here and be redundant.
UPDATE: To the Replit staff: here’s more negativity towards the new UI (sadly not all of these people are …
This is unusable. Look at how the styling on the code is. It’s hard to read.

Thanks for a response. I dislike the following:
Massive display for the Repl (the console/webview thing)
Tiny comments area
No ability to scroll below the Repl to get to the comments
Because of these, comments are very hard to use
Due to the comments being made incredibly difficult to use, the appeal to them is lost. It also discourages me from interacting with bots (although staff probably likes that one).
I find it visually unappealing and highly unintuitive
The buttons for viewing the code,…
The new UI makes comments almost completely invisible, and is not responsive to the hamburger menu. The cover page takes up the whole screen (its quite ugly) while condensing and squishing all the extra contents onto the side. Its less enjoyable to read comments with this small setup and also has been the making of issues such as Fork number (number of forks a project has) and others not showing or being hard to find in the pat (due to condensing). It is obvious majority of Replit users do not …
Hi Soren.
Here’s the thing old replits that are in python had certain layout. I’m making a game in python and I have to make it fit the new UI.
I think the new UI is bad. Instead of the repl itslef taking up 30% its now taking up to 70%. A lot more than it needs. I’m now more discouraged to comment on something. Also the new UI insn’t helping much… Somethings were bigger now smller. that means omroe use of the mangifyig app i have to use. i have bad eyesight. please rever tthe change or make i…

In that picture, I see a lot of gray and I personally think that the layout and color balance looks bad.
The new UI makes auto formatting truly ugly. Also code highlight is broken not only for 'exotics" but even in python.
Very disappointed.
Somehow I missed your reply. Big topic. Sorry.
I’ll just go down the list.
I would be okay with the big Repl display if my other concerns were addressed.
I definitely want comments. Adjustments would be nice.
Yes the left sidebar. I like having it be shown and right now it defaults to hide and keeps resetting to hidden. Furthermore it doesn’t mix well with the new UI.
Not something I can logically explain, but when viewing the source code of a Repl the styling and layout seems wrong. This is …
It’s me too! I don’t like the new code viewing layout, plus the button to view it is small (along with everything else squished into that little sliding menu)
NEW HORRORS!
I just discovered that Repl descriptions are now summarized so that you have to click them to view it all. The 1000 character restriction is limit enough without having this problem too.
See my Repl as a demo of this tragedy. And I did try changing it to be paragraphs instead of headers. The problem is length and not content.
