Should we allow users to set a status?

In discourse 3.0 user can set a status. So should we enable enable user status so people can set a status?

It only shows an emoji next to the user name, have I understood that correctly?

Then if you hover you can see a message. And this is displayed in full on their profile.

My only concern would be if watched words could be bypassed using this method.

Very true. Let me ask on meta if watched words will affect user status

Took a look (did not ask) and I don’t think its affected by watched words but you are able to find user status via the API.

Will this be added anytime soon?

No. But just played around with it and chat GPT I made an SQL query to list all of them. So possibly

SELECT description FROM user_statuses
