Please add COBOL language

Describe your feature request
Adding the COBOL language. I highly suggest to use a free compiler as backend (which currently limits to GnuCOBOL).

What problem(s) would this feature solve?
The only “working” AI solutions for COBOL are not very accessible to users, especially not to people that want to inspect COBOL on their own or start learning. Apart from AI Chatbots there are no solutions available on the web.

Explain what you were trying to do when you came across the problem leading to this feature request
Checking for ways to understand existing code bases, fix bugs and tune programs.
Google Bard and ChatGPT are “too creative”, only very basic code they output will compile.

I made a template for this:

When I execute that, it work, if I click on “use this template” and execute it there, I get

sh -c make -s
make: cobc: No such file or directory
make: *** [Makefile:6: main] Error 127

Seems like something is missing in the core environment?

Additional question: Is it possible to debug that in your replit?

That’s weird. Apparently replit doesn’t respect PATH modifications when you press the Run button. I fixed it by specifying the full path to cobc in the Makefile.

Try forking the template again.
