Browser opens and log-in is successful but the desktop app appears stuck indefinetly. Tried a Mac restart as well.

Im having the exact same problem on a Mac (Apple Silicon) using my email.

Problem description: Logging in through Gmail causes an infinite loading on the desktop application.
Expected behavior: Desktop Application logs in.
Actual behavior: Desktop Application permanently stuck on " Your browser should open automatically. If it doesn’t, click here."
Steps to reproduce: Download and install the Windows Replit Client, click log in, use Gmail login, infinite loading.
Browser: Firefox
OS: Windows 11 22H2 22621.2283
Device (Android, iOS, NA leave blank): Windows Desktop
Desktop app version (Avatar menu->“Version”) or NA: 1.0.1
Plan (Free, Hacker, Pro Plan): Free

Hi, I’m on Mac Silicon, right desktop app downloaded. However I find every time I start it up and log in, it opens the web browser, I login-in, I go back and it still says it should open the web browser automatically, if not click here. Any ideas as to what I’m doing wrong? I know I’m not the only one having issues with this.

mine is exactly like this too, want to know how to solve this, im using opera gx as browser and trying to login

Thank you everybody for the report. I have escalated this bug to Replit staff

It usually will have a popup in your browser saying “This site is trying to open Replit”. And you’ll need to click “Open” for it to transfer that data to the App. If you don’t see that popup, it could have been an issue with protocols or how it was installed. Which is either an issue with your system (i.e. insufficient privileges), or just that the way it installs that protocol to open Replit maybe the code doesn’t work on Macintosh. Just some ideas, you should uninstall and try it again though.

My bad, misread it. This would be a problem with the method it’s using to open your browser not working

i try to login but i cant. when i open app theres button login. then it went me to browser where i logged myself in but then it will open replit in browser. app still says that “browser should open automatically. click here if not” or something like this.

it should login me in app

Okay, I see that some users have same problem with mac. but for replit staff i can say that same problem in ubuntu (linux)

Question:
Has any one been able to sign into the Replit native app?

I open the app, it says sign in, which opens a browser to replit sign-in options. I select Github…It logs me into replit, no callback to pass auth to the app.
