The favicon for these forums and the main site are different.

I think the favicon should be the same whether we are on these forums or the main site to make this two in the same.
What is a favicon?
A favicon is that little icon on a tab for a website. See more detail on MDN webdocs.
Hi Ethan. Thanks for your message. I prefer it the way it is at the moment (personally) as I often have multiple Repls open as well as the discourse. This way I know where my community is!
What does everyone else think? Should the favicon be consistent?
Mabey we can have the title of the tab be something like:
Main site
Replit | name of page
Forum
Forums | Name of topic/page

Not a bad idea!
I tend to pin though so it currently looks like this:

Mabey we can put something like </>
on the one for the main site in a corner so you can tell what the tab is and have the favicon be almost identical.

This was possible on the home page but doesn’t filter down to the topics unfortunately. I’ll keep looking…
I will look at a way to do that on meta. I did make a possible favicon for the main site.

@IanAtReplit Try changing the setting site_name
(I think) to Forum | Ask Replit

That only works on the main page unfortunately, but thanks for the suggestion!

This may require a custom plugin or theme component then.
Different site should have a different icon. With so many tabs open for student work and my work across multiple sections/courses, I need to be able to visually see a difference.
In fact - I really wish the favicon that a student puts in their project could take-over in the IDE, but that would be tough.

Not all sites are like that.
For example:
-
Codecademy and their forums:

-
The Roblox dev forum, the Roblox devhub and the creator dashbord:

-
Github and their forums:

And Figma and their forums are almost identical

Ya for sure sites do it. Lots. Typically due to their branding rules.
I was just giving my opinion that I don’t think it would be helpful, in fact it might be confusing. For me.

With the new logo the favicons are now the same

This is true, and now I find it really difficult to tell what is a Repl with code and a message from ask. But that’s my issue to resolve. I could use Chrome tab groups to help here…
