K-12: Purchasing cycles for students

This is a follow up from:
K-12: Cycle purchasing and appling to assignments? - Support / Teams for Edu - Replit Ask

I am looking for a means of purchasing better performance and reliability for my students that doesn’t require the students to manage their own Cycle Tokens.

My experience using replit this year has been dramatically worse than last year and I am trying to figure out why. I would like to turn a few knobs on the Replit side of the internet and see if that leads to noticeable improvement.

…if there is a way I can do this without a new feature, I am hoping to get pointed in the right direction.

@GusReiber You could use boosts and buy them for each student induvial, but that would add up.
Is it the workspace that is running slow, or the code?

I am no expert but the only thing I can think of is to purchase boosts directly, then remove the credit card from the account.

@RedCoder sadly, everything is slow. Just starting the workspace is slow. Then it will disconnect and need to restart, …slowly. Two years ago (I think) Educational Teams paid about 1/2 the price of the first tier pro upgrade (or something like that, I don’t remember the exact details), but the result was a noticeable improvement over the free version.

Now that same version is free, and I suspect is getting slammed with load, as Replit, when it works, is really perfect for the educational setting.

The Token pricing model makes sense to me, but I suspect my kids would either hoard them or burn them all right away. With this post, I am hoping to find other educational folks who have figured out the token pricing and made it work so I can copy them.

@GusReiber Pro plan will speed up the workspace.

@RedCoder …and that’s at $20/month/student, yeah? Do you happen to know if the Educational Teams are still (or were ever) running on the Hacker level VMs?
