If we add a pub key to ~/.ssh inside the repl, that will work I assume. But if the repl is public, the pub key will then be accessible to anyone who can view your repl, I assume.

Is there not a way to have SSH keys specific to our own accounts for use with any repl?

Ok, apparently Replit deletes the ~/.ssh folder after some time or certain events. I tried forking my repl with a second account, and the ssh folder was gone in the new repl, as well as the original repl.

Would be great if Replit could put user keys in the env so that they are user specific.
