Frustration by Doomsdaybear

Frustration is a rage game inspired by the works of Bennet Foddy. You jump from rectangle to rectangle, but for no score or reward. The game doesn’t end, even if you fly off the screen.

Made in 2 days, and is my first time working with Kaboom.JS

I like seeing in Ask that “Frustration by Doomsdaybear” is a showcase. It makes it sound like you are showcasing your frustration with Replit XD.

How do I move the little man? He is just stuck there. AWSD, Spacebar, and Arrow Keys do nothing.

Click the output until your mouse disappears, space is the only control.

Now I lost the little man and he is gone. :sob: RIP little laser man.

One of the things I left purposefully out of the game was a game over screen. Without closure, you don’t know where the little guy is going and will never know. Thinking about this will make you frustrated, hence the game’s title ^^

I like this game. Its frustration and lack of purpose make it very enjoyable. It’s like something I would make (except I don’t really know much JS).

You don’t even need to know much JS to use Kaboom. All you basically need to know are arrow functions and how to declare variables lol. Just go to https://kaboomjs.com/.

Yeah this was my first time using the Kaboom library and I made this. It’s surprisingly easy once you solve a couple bugs every beginner gets.

Well, I’m going to try Kaboom in my free time because I really think that JS is a usefull life skill as web-based stuff is so much easier to share. Sharing my Python programs is not so easy (embedded console on a Replit page vs real game on its own website with JS). Although, I am playing with Python Flask and that has potential, but not for games (that I’m aware of).

Just realized pressing F5 just downloads a picture.

Yeah, there are some pretty cool features. Click on the image below to go to the Kaboom JS site, or just read what it can do. (You actually have to scroll up slightly to see this from the link.)

Pro tip: holding space bar= inf life

I discovered that. Also staying on the ground is infinite life. However, I have yet to land on a green one so that I can go forward.

True, but infinite life leaves you unfulfilled. Since there is no goal and no death, infinite life is pointless. The only way to enjoy the game is to just jump.

I had my favorite bot (PikaBot2005) make that into a poem for us:
The world is so vast and so bright,
A void of joy with no end in sight.
Life can seem dull and mundane,
When held back by infinity’s reign.
But if we just jump and take the chance,
We could be free to find sweet romance.
Amid endless life a joy we’d find,
Cause when we jump, there’s no end in sight!

Bot took a little project that took 2 days into an art. @PikaB2005 has blessed us.
