If you’re a student, get verified for Github Education. You get codespaces for free! If you’re over 18 it also offers you Azure cloud services. Otherwise you have to go through some separate verification (I’m not eligible although I have the education pack)
If you can’t verify your school email, take a photo for proof: don’t upload, because that makes it harder for them to verify. I used a picture of my exam timetable stacked on top of a letter which had the school’s logo and a recent date on it.
