Can I use a backend if I host on Github Pages

If I were to use a backend like node.js, would github pages be able to use it for free? I want to make an account system.

Github Pages will not run any backend code. They will just be seen as text files. You may be thinking about Github Codespaces.

Note that Github Codespaces isn’t free hosting, so dynamic sites won’t work if not run. Pages is Static Hosting, IIRC.

I understand your struggle though (I could never find backend host thingies). I’ve adapted by now, mostly using frontend modules, but I usually can find something that works (probably Glitch or something idk).

I’ve mentioned this before, but I really recommend Firebase. I can also help you set it up on your website if you want.

If you’re willing to. It would be a grueling task, and I haven’t even dipped my toe into backend yet. Maybe just a save file.

Not really. I usually set it up in a matter of minutes.

Firebase doesn’t require backend.

Oh. Ok. Replit webview is down right now. I could add you to the repl. Just an account system with your saved amount.
