I would like to use replit for education but my IT person wants to turn off community so as to prevent students from doing too much research on our firewall is that possible

Hi, welcome to Replit Ask! Yes, this is possible (although frankly, if your IT person is worried about students learning about your firewall, either (a) your firewall has issues or (b) your IT person has issues).
If you are absolutely sure that your students will never need to access external APIs or anything from repls, you could have them use Firewalled Replit, although that may cause issues in the future.
