Not exactly, in most languages now, you have to

  • Compile AST to byte code
  • Interpret bytecode.

@QwertyQwerty88 I do have to ask, how would you go about parsing functions in a programming language? That I canā€™t wrap my brain around.

No unauthorized Teams for Edu usage folks. Sorry.

I have no idea TBH. My language can barely parse simple math equations into an AST, lol.

@MiloCat If you want, I could join, I know a bunch on lexing and some stuff on parsing.

I donā€™t really care what itā€™s called, but you should probably make the sure the name doesnā€™t already exist. Here are some sites that have a bunch of languages so you can figure the name, based on ones that already exist:

Keep in mind these donā€™t have every language that exists on them. So make sure to do Google searches to make sure itā€™s a not-yet-used name. Also Replit has 122 programming languages and a ton of templates, so you can look there as well.

Iā€™m a bit late, lol, but Iā€™ve made a language before and I know how to do lexers and parsers + Iā€™m working on a BrainF compiler. Iā€™d like to help if I can.

Could I join? Iā€™ve never created a language before!

Can I please be added?

YEs, you can  itā€™s ą¶ž themed

um, what happens if you are trying to use it to actually teach someone to code?

Simple answer: You donā€™t

Compilers are faster than interpreters

Lua?

They are actually usually slower, but the code they produce is faster.
