AI response delay?

Question:
Is there away to adjust the delay for AI helper? It is very fast - which is great - but I would like to delay slightly longer to think about the code I am currently writing. Currently learning.

Hi @kinghandy , welcome to the forums!
You mean the autocomplete?
You can turn it off by going to Tools > Settings > AI Autocomplete > Off. Or, click the AI button at the bottom of the editor and uncheck the checkbox.

(You can turn it on again anytime)

Delay, not turn off. I find it useful in many situations, except cannot finish before AI code appears. And I am a fast, experienced typist.

I believe there’s a button to autocomplete the code that ther AI wrote. Im not sure what it is but I’m gonna take a guess and say its tab. Not sure about delaying it though, im dont use the AI

Again, they’re not asking for that. They’re asking to delay the AI responding.

There is probably not a builtin way to configure this, so it would be a good idea to make a feature request.
I think that a button to show AI suggestions instead of it being automatic would be convenient too.

@kinghandy @Firepup650 I believe what Nate meant was to turn it off until you finish typing, then turn it on again.

If there is a keyboard shortcut this will be okay, but I would rather just leave on with a a bit more than a 2 second delay

The keyboard shortcut (TAB) just allows you to accept the AI’s suggestions. I guess you can just wait a little until the AI makes a new suggestion, but my understanding is that this is kind of the entire issue your trying to avoid by delaying the suggestion a bit so I don’t know that this helps.

Meant a shortcut to turn off/on ghostwriter AI. Tab I know of already, although sometimes the code shown turns into html randomly and I need to retry tab key again

In the User Settings, you can set a keybind to ask AI to make a suggestion. Maybe, after you finish typing, you can press that key, and it will ask AI to think again to make a suggestion.
